Below is a list of important resources for cannabis businesses as you’re beginning to hire and develop policies for your employees:
Workers’ Compensation and Disability/Paid Family Leave - ww3.nysif.com/cannabis/index
The NYSIF is a not-for-profile carrier that provides workers' compensation and disability/paid family leave policies to businesses to ensure they are in compliance with state law, including cannabis businesses.
The New York State Department of Labor’s Cannabis Employment, Education and Development (CEED) Unit – dol.ny.gov/cannabis-workforce-development
The CEED Unit is designed to assist both job seekers and businesses who work in the adult-use, medical cannabis, and cannabinoid hemp industries. They connect workers to a variety of employment opportunities in this emerging field and support cannabis businesses as they develop in the industry.
Cannabis Workforce Initiative - cannabisworkforce.org/
The New York State Cannabis Workforce Initiative is a collaboration between the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University and the Workforce Development Institute. Our mission is to promote and support social equity in the adult-use cannabis market by providing quality workforce development and legal education. Our work, supported in part by a state budget appropriation, prioritizes diversity, equity, and quality jobs in the emerging cannabis industry through skills training, entrepreneurism services, workforce supports, legal education for employees and employers, and the development of high-road career pathways.
